Acoustic Guitar reviews our Parlor 14" 6-string!
November 25, 2009

This month's issue of Acoustic Guitar features a great review of one of our newest models, the Parlor 14" 6-string.

Writer Charles Saufley and editor Teja Gerken both had very nice things to say about this piece, praising its "very vocal and harmonic-rich tonal palette", as well as its "concise fundamental tones and a subtle overtone glow".

Read it all, and watch a great video of Teja playing the guitar here:

Pick up an issue on the newsstand too for more great articles and reviews.

Many thanks to Acoustic Guitar! Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.

In the midst of a photo shoot, Juliet decided this bass needed some company. The self-timer was already counting down...

Some old friends and some new guitars...
October 28, 2009

A quick snapshot from last weekend's Woodstock Invitational guitar show...

From left to right:
-Joe Veillette
-John Sebastian on Baritone 12-string
-Larry Campbell on Gryphon Hi-12

For those who don't know - John Sebastian is a legend as a solo guitarist and songwriter, and as the leader of the Lovin' Spoonful.

Larry Campbell is one of the industry's greatest multi-instrumental 'secret weapons'. After playing lead guitar for Bob Dylan for about a decade, Larry is now working closely with The Band's Levon Helm and many others.

These two guys are among the most satisfying and tasteful musicians you'll ever hear. Hearing them playing some sweet Veillette acoustics makes it that much better.

The Great Woodstock Luthiers Showcase
October 20, 2009

These happy-looking acoustics, along with a few of their compatriots, are off to the town of Bearsville, NY (2 miles West of Woodstock) for 2nd annual Woodstock Invitational Luthiers Showcase. There'll be lots of acoustic instruments of all sorts - mostly guitars from a whole slew of builders and players from the Northeast and some from much, much further away - like Istanbul, Turkey. For all the fun details, go to: http://www.woodstockinvitational.com

It's Here! The Acoustic 5-string Bass...
October 9, 2009

At last, it's done...and it was really worth the wait.

This bass is really making us happy. Low to high, the tone is big and solid, with lots of punch. The B-string is also very well-integrated with the rest of the strings, with a very even volume and tone transition through the low positions.

Our usual recipe of Honduran mahogany back and sides, Sitka Spruce top, and Pau Ferro fingerboard and bridge strike a nice balance: smooth warmth and nice, present 'growl'. This will sit beautifully in a mix - full and deep, but still well-defined and clear.

It's hard to put this bass down long enough to write this!

This beautiful bass is going to Sleek Elite in Japan. Coming up very soon is a 4-string fretless for our UK dealer, in some very fetching curly koa.
