Zero Fret
Every Veillette instrument features a zero fret. Positioned where the nut would normally be, this fret greatly improves intonation, makes open strings and fretted notes sound much more uniform, and makes for hassle-free string gauge changes and action adjustment.

Bridge
The Retro Singlecut's bridge assembly is actually made up of a separate bridge for each string. Unlike other single string bridges which use simple wood screws, these units bolt completely through the body with a machine threaded ferrule. This tight coupling between bridge and body adds to sustain and attack, and the separation of individual strings gives the instrument a lively and defined response.

The Retro Singlecut's bridge also allows for through-body or top-loading stringing, which further expands the player's tonal choices.

Pickups and Controls
The Retro Singlecut's electronics give the player a powerful, full-range sound, great flexibility, ease of use, and the convenience and sonic purity of a fully passive arrangement.

The Citron humbucking pickups are based on ceramic magnets, and their extremely broad response is enhanced by a natural midrange "grind" that cuts through any mix.

The Master Volume and Blend controls are complemented by a treble-rolloff tone control with a twist: pulling out the knob compeletely removes the tone control from the circuit, adding an extra high-end sparkle and clarity that shines for studio work or percussive playing. This control arrangement yields a maximum number of sound options with minimum effort, and (of course) no dead batteries to worry about!

Neck Joint
One of the most distinguishing features of the Singlecut Basses is the unique bolt-on neck joint. Three massive steel machine bolts couple with threaded steel "tee-nuts" inside the neck, for a joint that rivals neck-through instruments in strength and stability, but still retains all the punch and responsiveness of bolt-ons.
