Singlecut Bass Guitar Construction Details -- Veillette Guitars

Zero Fret
Every Veillette instrument features a zero fret. Positioned where the nut would normally be, this fret greatly improves intonation, makes open strings and fretted notes sound much more uniform, and makes for hassle-free string gauge changes and action adjustment.

Bridge/Tailpiece
Unique to the "Modern" Singlecut basses, this fully-adjustable wood/brass tailpiece uses the same dovetail connection as the Mark IV series, for maximum contact area and acoustic coupling. Added to this are 5 hefty brass saddles, adjustable for height, spacing, and intonation, for a completely flexible setup. This bridge contributes to the Singlecuts huge sustain and extremely fast transient response.

"Retro" Singlecuts feature single-string Hipshot bridges with 2-way stringing: top-loading for quick string changes and bright modern sounds, or through-body for maximum punch and depth.

Pickups and Controls
The Singlecut basses feature handwound Citron humbucking pickups. Made by Veillette-Citron co-founder Harvey Citron, these ceramic magnet pickups have great clarity and a strong, focused midrange response that really "cuts".

"Modern" Singlecuts also include the Bartolini NTBT 2-band EQ circuit. This active bass/treble control gives the player great flexibility for quick, on-the-fly tone changes, from deep, round sounds to crisp, modern tones.

"Retro" Singlecut basses are wired with a simple Volume/Blend/Tone arrangement, with an added "Tone Bypass" control that adds extra top end and clarity - great for the studio!

Neck Joint
One of the most distinguishing features of the Singlecut Basses is the unique bolt-on neck joint. Three massive steel machine bolts couple with threaded steel "tee-nuts" inside the neck, for a joint that rivals neck-through instruments in strength and stability, but still retains all the punch and responsiveness of bolt-ons.
