Whatever we decide to call it, one thing is for sure:
This is, very simply, the first of its kind.
This is our standard Gryphon body, with a shortened 16.5" scale that allows the open strings to be tuned a full octave higher than 'standard'.
This means all chord shapes and fret positions are the same note names as on a regular guitar - no capoing or transposing necessary!
Even beyond the special scale, this is a pretty special guitar all around, with:
-Cuban Mahogany Back, Sides, Neck, and Headplate
-Adirondack Spruce top and bracing
-Black Ebony fingerboard and bridge
The higher pitch and shorter scale give this guitar a beautiful and charming voice that's different from our ever-popular D-tuned Gryphon - it has a little extra 'lift' that just makes you smile. Our customer agrees!

We are very proud to introduce the Oval-Hole Gryphon!
This piece, the first of its kind, is destined for Terra Guitars:
Based on our Oval-Hole Studio shape, this Gryphon doesn't just look different - it has a very different voice from our original 'moon-hole' design.
The low end is wider and more 'open' sounding, with a little more volume and 'chop' to the rhythm sound. The high end trades away a little sparkle in exchange for a meatier midrange and stronger attack.
We are thrilled with how this turned out, and there will be more coming! We're also very pleased to be expanding our range of available sounds and options, to really accommodate the needs of all our players.
There's more exciting news coming along - it's going to be a good year!

Hi everyone,
Just a quick note this week, to mention that we just posted a couple of very cool new instruments on the "Specials" page.
Both are Standard 12-strings, and together they represent 13 years of evolution of Joe's electric 12-string design.
We'll be doing a roundup of NAMM news and photos soon, but until then we'd like to thank all the players, dealers, and fans who came by the booth and made it a great show!

From left to right, we have:

These are loaded with Duncan Vintage Rails pickups and our own crystal piezo, blended through a custom Eclipse preamp.
Poplar bodies, maple necks, wenge fingerboards, and a simple satin finish round out the package.
These guitars are all about function - maximum tonal possibilities, outstanding playability and comfort, and no frills - just some of the best-sounding working guitars you'll ever come across.
